Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg is a Swedish producer of Let’s Play videos on YouTube from Gothenburg, Sweden. He was born on October 24, 1989 and rose to fame in the year 2010. He is better known as PewDiePie on YouTube where he is hailed as “King”. His channel became the most subscribe YouTube channel in 2013 and now has 37.8 million subscribers.

Both of his parents, Mrs. Johanna and Mr. Ulf Kjellberg are successful people in the business world, and having been enrolled at Chalmers University of Technology, PewDiePie or Pewds could have easily been in that world too.

However, upon realizing that it is not what he wants to do with his life, he dropped out of school and focused on making videos instead. He disclosed on an interview by Swedish Radio that it was not simple to break the news to his parents; but claims that whenever he thinks about it, he says he’s happier to sell hotdogs than to continue pursuing a degree in Industrial Economics in the said university. Now years later, he’s 25 years old, a school drop-out, doing what he loves and is a multi-millionaire because of it.

If you do not know PewDiePie, you may think he’s a weird, nerdy, love-less kind of guy, but he’s not, people. He’s not. He lives with his girlfriend, Marzia Bisognin aka CutiePieMarzia. They met in 2011 through the introduction of Marzia’s friend. Now they live in a Victorian apartment in Brighton, England, UK. They chose to live in the UK because apparently, it has better Internet connectivity, which is an obvious essential for the couple.

On screen, he is an energetic, loud, and extrovert kind of person, but off screen, he is a reserved guy and dislikes being called famous. He even told his fans in an online question and answer segment that he’s not the type of guy to enjoy being in the limelight and receiving too much attention.

VLOGGING CAREER:

PewDiePie’s YouTube channel grew so fast after starting it in 2010. His channel is the first to reach 15million subscribers, and he is the most viewed user on YouTube. At present, his channel now has 37.8million subscribers and 9.4billion views.

He humbly shares that he only became successful in this career because he wasn’t doing it for the money. He started doing it because it’s what he wants and that the money is just a plus. Also, he says that the secret to his success is the fact that he was able to break the wall that separates the viewers and the artist. He further explained that his direct and awesome interaction with his fans is the major factor why he is so triumphant in YouTube.

Pewds refers to his fans as his Bros, and this is supported by the way he talks to them in his videos. He may seem rude, harsh and vulgar in his vlogs but it always come off as him being real and not hypocritical. Some say that this is exactly what made young people like him so much. He’s entertaining and many were hooked by his authenticity.

Due to the rise of his channel’s popularity, which is focused on gaming, many gaming networks took notice. One of them is Polaris; where Felix is presently under a contract with. As his number of subscribers and views rose, his salary figure also went up. Reports exposing his income revealed that he earned a whopping $7.5million in 2014. The public went berserk over this news. Some even published and voiced out their angers, jealousy and irritation over his salary in various websites.

As things escalated, PewDiePie posted a video on his channel saying that he felt the need to discuss the topic once and for all. He told his fans that he doesn’t even care that much about his profits and that the public seem to pay more attention to it than he actually does.

AWARDS AND ACHIEVEMENTS:

He won Most Popular Show and Sweden Social Star Award at the Starcount Social Star Awards in 2013. He also won #Gaming at the Shorty Awards that same year. In 2014, he achieved the Web Star title in Gaming category at the Teen Choice Awards in 2014, and was nominated for the Best Gaming Channel, Show, or Series at the 4^th Streamy Awards in the same year.
